Smart contracts
Rules that execute. Outcomes that still need scrutiny.
Start here
A smart contract is a program deployed to a blockchain. Transactions can call its functions and change its recorded state.
The useful question is not whether a contract is smart, but what its code allows, who can change it and what it depends on. Inputs from outside the chain may rely on an oracle or another intermediary.
THE QUESTION TO CARRY FORWARD
Who controls upgrades, and what happens when the code or its inputs are wrong?
